Roly was a passionate APICS volunteer serving the organization for over 40 years at the Chapter, District and International levels. He has significantly contributed to the growth and success of the organization and the Supply Chain Management profession, but more personally has contributed to the growth and success of many of the organization’s members and students. Roly’s passion for APICS was contagious and the very reason many of us became involved.
You may have interfaced with Roly as a student in his certification classes, in Board of Director meetings, at Student Case Competitions, at Item Writing Workshops, at Certification Committee meetings, or many other APICS venues. Below is a representation of his involvement at each level of the organization.
Chapter: Roly served as an influential member of the Orange County Board of Directors since the 1970s. He served two terms as Chapter President. Roly most recently served as a recognized instructor, as Director of Membership, as Committee Chair for the annual internal audit and as Committee Member for Executive events. His participation was not limited by his defined roles as Roly provided insight and support to all members and students on a continual basis.
District: Roly was a regular attendee at quarterly District Meetings and served as a judge for the Student Case Competition every year. He served as the Committee Chair for the Chapter related responsibilities at the August 2016 District Meeting held in Orange County.
International: Roly served on the APICS examination committees for many years. He was Committee Chairperson for both CSCP and MPR and, most recently, Committee Member for MPR. He hosted item writing workshops where he also served as a mentor and piloted and enhanced the remote item wrting process which is highly used today. He was frequently sought out by APICS staff and volunteers for his insights.
Roly’s knowledge of the workings of APICS at all levels was extraordinary. When APICS volunteers or staff needed to obtain historical information from past years, the first person they generally reached out to was Roly. He was a source of much documentation but, more impressively, was able to recall past events, policies and details like no one else could. This trait made everyone’s job easier.
Roly’s family will honor his wishes of not having a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in his name. The Roly White Scholarship Fund provides an opportunity to donate to a cause Roly was passionate about. Please join us in extending Roly’s legacy.
